## 1. Introduction

BeatBJ is an iOS application designed to help users learn blackjack basic strategy and card counting techniques. It is a learning and simulation tool only—the app does not involve, facilitate, or enable real-money gambling of any kind.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use BeatBJ, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have. It applies to the BeatBJ iOS app distributed through the Apple App Store and to any related services we provide.

By using BeatBJ, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

Quick summary (not a substitute for the full policy):

- Your learning data (hand history, quiz answers, settings) is stored only on your device and is never sent to us.

- Free users see ads served by Google AdMob, which may collect ad-related data (such as advertising identifier, coarse location, and interaction data) for ad delivery and analytics.

- Premium users (one-time in-app purchase) do not see ads, and no ad-related tracking data is collected for ad purposes.

- We never sell your personal data.

---

## 2. Types of Information We Collect

The categories below align with the disclosures we make in the app's PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest submitted to Apple.

### 2.1 Information Collected by the App Itself

| Category | Examples | Stored Where | Linked to You? |

|---|---|---|---|

| Learning data | Hand records, quiz answers, drill scores, progress, app settings | On your device only (SwiftData) | No (stays local) |

| Purchase history | Premium unlock status, transaction receipts | Managed by Apple StoreKit | Yes, by Apple |

| Product interaction | Taps, screen views, in-app feature usage | On your device only | No |

We (the developer) do not operate any backend server that receives your learning data. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly use iCloud or device backups managed by Apple.

### 2.2 Information Collected via Google AdMob (Free Users Only)

When the app shows ads (free users only), the Google AdMob SDK may collect:

- Device identifier (IDFA) — Apple's Advertising Identifier, only when you grant tracking permission through ATT.

- Advertising data — information about ads shown, clicks, impressions, ad request context.

- Coarse location — approximate location derived from IP address (city/region level). This is standard AdMob behavior used for regional ad delivery and frequency capping.

- Device & usage information — device type, OS version, language, and basic interaction signals required to serve and measure ads.

These data items are used for tracking purposes (ad delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and ad performance measurement) as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. If you deny ATT permission, the IDFA is not shared and only non-tracking, contextual ads are served.

Premium users do not see ads, and the AdMob SDK does not collect ad-related tracking data for ad purposes after the premium unlock is active.

### 2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

- Real name, email address, phone number, postal address

- Precise (GPS-level) location

- Photos, contacts, calendar, microphone, or camera data

- Health, financial, or biometric data

- Any real-money gambling activity (the app does not offer it)

---

## 3. How We Use Information

We use the information described above only for the following purposes:

1. App functionality — Saving your learning progress, quiz results, settings, and premium entitlement on your device so the app works as expected.

2. In-app purchases — Processing the one-time premium unlock through Apple StoreKit and restoring purchases when you reinstall.

3. Ad delivery (free users only) — Showing interstitial ads via Google AdMob to support the free tier.

4. Analytics — Limited, on-device analysis of product interaction to understand which learning features are useful. AdMob also performs aggregated ad performance analytics on its side.

5. Security & abuse prevention — Detecting invalid traffic, ad fraud, and abuse, primarily through AdMob's built-in protections.

We do not use your information for:

- Selling or renting data to third parties

- Building cross-app advertising profiles ourselves (any cross-app tracking via IDFA happens only through AdMob, only with your ATT consent)

- Automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects

- Any purpose unrelated to operating the app

---

## 4. Third-Party Services & Sharing

BeatBJ uses a small number of third-party services. Each service is governed by its own privacy policy.

### 4.1 Google AdMob (Ad Delivery)

- What it does: Serves interstitial ads to free users.

- What it may receive: IDFA (with ATT consent), coarse location (from IP), device/OS metadata, ad interaction signals.

- Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

- Opt-out / controls: See [Section 8](#8-att--ad-opt-out-methods).

### 4.2 Apple StoreKit / App Store (In-App Purchases)

- What it does: Processes the premium unlock purchase and restores prior purchases.

- What it may receive: Your Apple ID purchase information (handled by Apple, not us).

- Privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

We do not share your learning data, hand history, or any locally stored information with these services or anyone else.

---

## 5. International Data Transfers

If you use BeatBJ outside the United States, please be aware that data collected by Google AdMob may be transferred to, processed, and stored on servers located in the United States or in other countries where Google or its service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.

Where required, Google relies on appropriate legal mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to transfer personal data across borders. Please refer to [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) for details.

Apple's handling of purchase data is described in [Apple's Privacy Policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).

The developer (Tomohiro Nakao) is based in Japan but does not directly receive or store your personal data on any server, so no cross-border transfer occurs on our side.

---

## 6. Data Retention & Local Storage

### 6.1 On-Device Learning Data

All learning data (hand records, quiz answers, drill progress, settings) is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. It remains on your device until you:

- Delete it from within the app (Settings → "Delete all learning data" or equivalent option), or

- Uninstall the app, or

- Reset your device.

If you use iCloud Backup, your device may include BeatBJ data in encrypted backups managed by Apple. We do not control or access those backups.

### 6.2 Ad-Related Data

Data collected by Google AdMob is retained by Google according to its own retention policies. See [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) for details.

### 6.3 Purchase Data

Purchase history is retained by Apple in accordance with its policies. The app stores only the minimum entitlement state (whether premium is unlocked) on your device.

---

## 7. Children's Privacy

BeatBJ is rated 17+ on the App Store because it contains simulated gambling content (blackjack practice for educational purposes, with no real money involved).

The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App Store age rating is intended to prevent installation by minors via Apple's parental controls.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the app, please contact us at the email below and we will help address the situation.

---

## 8. ATT & Ad Opt-Out Methods

You have several controls over advertising and tracking on iOS:

### 8.1 App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

The first time the app needs to request tracking permission, iOS will display a system prompt asking whether you allow BeatBJ to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. You can:

- Allow Tracking — The IDFA is shared with Google AdMob for personalized ad delivery.

- Ask App Not to Track — The IDFA is not shared. You will still see ads (if you are a free user), but they will be non-personalized / contextual.

You can change your decision at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

### 8.2 Apple Advertising Settings

You can further limit personalized advertising from Apple in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.

### 8.3 Removing Ads Entirely

Free users can purchase the one-time Premium unlock via in-app purchase to remove all ads. After purchase, the AdMob SDK no longer requests or shows ads for your account on that device.

### 8.4 Deleting Local Learning Data

You can delete all locally stored learning data at any time from the app's Settings screen.

---

## 9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws (such as GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California, APPI in Japan, etc.), including:

- The right to access information we hold about you.

- The right to correct inaccurate information.

- The right to delete your information ("right to erasure").

- The right to restrict or object to certain processing.

- The right to withdraw consent (e.g., ATT permission) at any time.

- The right to data portability where applicable.

- The right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Because we do not collect or store personal data on our own servers, most of these rights are exercised directly through your device settings (for ATT, Apple Advertising, deleting the app, deleting in-app data) or through Google and Apple for data they process.

For any privacy-related inquiry or request, please contact us at the email address in [Section 12](#12-contact-us). We will respond within a reasonable time and, where legally required, within the timeframes specified by applicable law.

---

## 10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

- All learning data is stored locally using Apple's standard SwiftData stack, which benefits from iOS file-system protections (including Data Protection when your device passcode is set).

- Communication with Google AdMob and Apple StoreKit uses encrypted connections (HTTPS / TLS) provided by the respective SDKs.

- The app does not transmit your learning data to any server we control.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

---

## 11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, in applicable law, or in our practices. When we make material changes, we will:

- Update the Last Updated date at the top of this policy.

- Where appropriate, notify you within the app (for example, by showing the updated policy on next launch).

Your continued use of BeatBJ after the updated policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree, please stop using the app.
